Nanomagnetic Boolean Logic—The Tempered (and Realistic) Vision

The idea of nanomagnetic Boolean logic was advanced more than two decades ago. It envisaged the use nanomagnets with stable magnetization orientations as primitive binary switch for implementing gates and ultimately combinational/sequential circuits. Enthusiastic proclamations how will eclipse traditional (transistor-based) circuits proliferated applied physics literature. Two later there is not a single viable chip in sight, let alone one that commercial success. In this perspective article, I offer my reasons why has come to pass. present realistic tempered vision logic, pointing out many misconceptions about paradigm, flaws some proposals appeared literature, shortcomings, likely pitfalls might stymie progress field.
